Cagayan de Oro City, September 26, 2021 – The Department of Education (DepEd) Region X clinched two major awards during the 1st Regional Development Council (RDC) Xcellence or Amihanan Awards 2021 on September 24.
DepEd NorMin was declared as one of the Outstanding RDC-X Members for its active participation in RDC-X meetings and activities, including the delivery of RDC-X requirements, Strategic Performance Management System (SPMS)/Office Performance Commitment and Review (OPCR), and innovations or breakthrough initiatives, which resulted to improvements in systems, processes, and service delivery.
Likewise, the Department was given the Excellence - Lodestar Award for its accomplishments as national champion or Most Learning-Focused Regional Office during the Secretary’s Award for Excellence in Curriculum and Instruction (SAFE-CI) 2019-2020.
The SAFE CI recognizes the Department’s accomplishments in fostering learning for the improvement of (1) curriculum and instruction, (2) teaching and learning practices, (3) curriculum support system, and (4) monitoring and evaluation (M&E).
In his message during the Monday convocation, Regional Director Dr. Arturo B. Bayocot, CESO III, recognized the collaborative efforts of the DepEd X personnel especially in implementing the Department’s Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (BE LCP).
“I am happy and grateful for all your support and hard work in putting up and completing our story in terms of the pertinent documents related to the innovations we have undertaken,” RD Bayocot said.
RD Bayocot cited the Department’s banner program called Rx ADOBE or Alternative Delivery Of Basic Education as one of the major innovations that contributed to the attainment of the award in which the Region’s locally produced Self-Learning Modules (SLMs) are being recognized and utilized by other regions and some other private institutions to continue their delivery of quality education in this time of the pandemic.
“It’s a humble and meaningful experience to receive this award from a distinguished external award-giving body, the RDC, which is composed of all the regional offices of the Philippine bureaucracy to include the congresspersons and the local government unit (LGU) leaders,” he added.
In closing, RD Bayocot challenged all the offices to continue strategizing to maximize and expedite the fund utilization and meet the target goals and encouraged everyone to maintain good vibes and positivity in the workplace.
“What matters most while working in this Office is happiness, which multiplies success, builds positivity, reduces stress, and means a healthy life,” he said.
Observed every fourth week of September of each year as per Proclamation No. 1164 dated 24 February 1998 in commemoration of the RDC as key structure for regional planning and integrated local planning and programming, the Search for RDC Xcellence Awardees or the 2021 Amihanan Awards is one of the highlights of the RDC-X Week Celebration with the theme “Advancing Regional Development amid the Pandemic” as per Resolution No. 7, s. 2021.
